Acting Attorney-General, Mr. Pollock, and would be glad to have your instructions in the matter. I feel sure that the Unofficial Members of the Legislative Council would strenuous- -ly resist any payment from public funds and I know that the two newspapers affected would as strenuously support them. In these circumstances I consider that the small amount which may properly be regarded as being due should be subscribed privately and I am prepared to contribute myself.
